Merlin Olsen, RIP
Merlin Olsen 9/15/40 – 3/11/10
A member of the Fearsome Foursome, the nickname bestowed upon the defensive front of the 1963 L.A. Rams, passed away today. Mr. Olsen was a force to be reckoned with on the field, a nasty lineman that raked up the tackles and terrorized opposing QB’s, and will be forever enshrined in the Football Hall of Fame.
Personally, I only remember Merlin from his go as a T.V. actor. Yeah, I watched LHOTP, at first because of my sister, but I enjoyed it.
Yeah, I know, old show. And a long clip. But look at Merlin’s presence. He seems so at ease in front of the camera. He called games for CBS after he retired and although I didn’t see those, I am sure he had the same easy-going, nice-to-be-around personna as he did with Laura Ingalls and whatever his son’s name was.
So, Merlin (great name, by the way) here’s to you.
You did good.

Wizard…? Football player…? Actor…? Never on any tabloid, TMZ, police log…we’ve lost a good one.
